Endhiran...most outrageous action scene ever. EVER.
OK, if you do not know me, you may not realize that just as I can spend two hours crying shamelessly through Bright Star or squirming in disgust and fascination at Black Swan, I can also spend a very long time (which is sometimes required in a Bollywood epic) screaming at the top of my lungs over something so gross, so ridiculous, so amazing in CGI, so inconceivable in concept, that I cannot believe I am even watching it. This clip, my friends, is just such a moment. Laugh out loud crazy. Still, I am in awe of the effects and the insanity of the thought process that it took to develop this action sequence. I love every minute of it. And now, I am going back to my John Donne lesson plan. Enjoy, if you can.

BEST FANTASY FILMS OF THE DECADE??
So here is the list. I like most of the films on it, but do not see any justification for either Shrek movie on a fantasy film list. If you are going to add "cartoons" then why not go to anime or stop motion and add Coraline, Cowboy Bebop or Evangelion?

Apparently, the link doesn't work anymore, so here is my second favorite list. I think I had better make my own list from now on. None of these are great, but still worth considering:

This list is inspiring. Of course, there are lots of foreign films I have never heard of, but I've seen 8 of them! I also love Unbreakable and The Host, so now I must be on a quest to see the rest.

HOW TIM BURTON DID DISNEY
Since we are about to embark on a Burton odyssey this year in Film Club, I looked up just a little background on Mr. Burton to prepare myself. Whoa!
Tim Burton worked at Disney for a while in the 1980's. As you you imagine, he was NOT a good fit for Disney, which I guess has become a great thing for his fans. Here is a short video he made during the Disney days. You can already see his unique vision and perspective on life. And now we know he was just as mesmerized by Vincent Price as Michael Jackson was (remember the Thriller video).
